Toronto Botanical Garden

I was invited to join the show “Essence of the Garden: Plein Air Art Exhibition and Sale,” and I’m really excited about the opportunity to meet and paint alongside other artists. Each artist is required to create plein air paintings at the garden, which will be interesting because we’ll all be painting the same places in our own styles and interpretations.

Our first meeting with all the artists was on a hot, sunny day. We’re required to submit a postcard-sized painting, and I don’t think I could stay outdoors in that kind of weather for very long. So, I decided to paint a small one instead.

I found a beautiful spot filled with phlox. The flowers were delicate and colorful, and they made the perfect subject for my small painting. It was a lovely way to begin this artistic adventure at the garden.
